Livestock Caretaker Herd and Flock Handler
Position Overview
Blue Seal Farm is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated individual to join our livestock operation. We raise beef cattle and sheep and are looking for someone who is passionate about animal care and committed to maintaining the highest standards of livestock welfare.
Employer-provided accommodations are available on-site. Housing is provided as part of the position, with utilities included.
This position is ideal for someone who understands the responsibilities of farm life and enjoys working outdoors with animals.
Work locations are mostly on site, but livestock are at times moved to other locations for pasture in the summer season, and fencing and supervision is needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Feed and water cattle and sheep according to established schedules.
- Monitor livestock health, behaviour, and overall well-being.
- Assist with daily livestock care and handling.
- Clean and maintain livestock pens, shelters, feeding areas, and watering systems.
- Move livestock between pastures and grazing areas as required.
- Assist during calving and lambing seasons.
- Help maintain fencing and livestock containment areas.
- Observe and report health concerns, injuries, or unusual animal behaviour.
- Use motorized equipment such as tractors and feeding equipment to feed animals.
- Maintain records related to feeding schedules and animal care.
- Follow all farm safety and animal welfare procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous livestock or farm experience is an asset.
- Experience working with cattle, sheep, or other farm animals is preferred.
- Must be able to verbally communicate in English.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to animal welfare and farm safety.
- Dependable, honest, and willing to learn.
- Physically capable of performing farm duties in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
Work Environment
Livestock care is a year-round responsibility. Hours may vary depending on weather conditions, calving and lambing seasons, and livestock requirements.

General Farm Labour
Position Overview
Blue Seal Farm is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated Farm worker to assist with hay and straw production and general field operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating basic farm machinery, such as tractors and attachments. You will assist the farm manager with various general farm labour revolving around crop production.
Work locations are mostly at the farm location address (448 and 4449 Trout Pond Road), but we also rent farmland at a nearby neighbour within a few kilometres of the farm.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating agricultural equipment, and contributing to a productive farming operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate tractors and farm machinery used in hay and straw production.
- Perform field preparation, cultivation, mowing, raking, baling, and harvesting activities.
- Load, unload, stack, and transport hay and straw bales.
- Monitor equipment performance and report potential mechanical issues.
- Operate machinery safely and in accordance with farm procedures.
- Maintain farm roads, laneways, and work areas.
- Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain records related to field operations and equipment use.
Qualifications
- Experience operating agricultural equipment and tractors is preferred.
- Experience with hay and straw production is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments.
- Must be able to verbally communicate in English.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily outdoors and is subject to changing weather conditions. Seasonal demands, particularly during haying and harvesting periods, may require extended hours, weekend work, and flexibility in scheduling. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a rural agricultural setting and be prepared to work efficiently during peak production periods.
